Petrol and diesel prices rose again in February, the latest AA Ireland Fuel Survey reveals.
Petrol prices increased by four cents to an average of €1.80 a litre, while diesel prices are also up four cents to €1.77 a litre.
But February saw a little relief for electric vehicle (EV) owners this month, as EV costs decreased slightly. The average cost to cover 17,000 km annually for EV drivers is now €810, down by a cent from the previous month.
Elena Leao, Marketing & PR at AA Ireland, said that rising fuel prices put pressure on households, but there are ways motorists can take control of their fuel usage.
“Simple actions, like planning routes to avoid unnecessary travel, driving at a consistent speed, and using eco-driving modes when available, can help reduce fuel consumption,” she said.
“Every little bit of efficiency counts and adopting mindful driving habits can ease some of the financial strain,” she added.
