McCabes Pharmacy has announced a deal to buy O’Doherty’s Pharmacy in Milltown in Co Kerry.
Today’s deal brings its total network to 112 pharmacies and further strengthens its national reach and presence in communities across Ireland.
O’Doherty’s Pharmacy has served the Milltown community for over 50 years, having first opened in the mid-1950s.
The single-unit pharmacy has operated under its current ownership since 2003 and is led by supervising pharmacist Anne Sheahan Casey and Gerry Casey.
As part of McCabes Pharmacy and the wider PHX Ireland Group, the team will now have access to the group’s broader operational infrastructure, clinical resources and support functions.
The addition of O’Doherty’s Pharmacy to the McCabes network follows its acquisition of Kinvara Pharmacy in Co Galway earlier this year.
The pharmacy will transition to the McCabes Pharmacy brand over the coming months.
Brian O’Keeffe, Managing Director of McCabes Pharmacy, said that as the company continues to grow its retail footprint across Ireland, its priority is to ensure continuity of care and service for patients, while providing its teams with the scale, infrastructure and resources of the wider McCabes Pharmacy and PHX Ireland Group.
Anne Sheahan Casey, Supervising Pharmacist at O’Doherty’s Pharmacy, said that joining McCabes Pharmacy marks an important new chapter for the pharmacy and its team.
“We have built strong relationships with patients and the wider Milltown community over many years, and it was important to us that this local focus and commitment to patient care will continue,” she added.
