Irish consumers left behind €60.1m last year as they failed to redeem their deposits for drink containers through the Government’s Deposit Return Scheme.
The figure is contained in their 2025 annual report.
It is a drop of €6.6m on 2024’s figures of €66.7m for unredeemed deposits.
Last year, a total of 1.4 billion containers were returned, up from 877 million in 2024.
Re-turn said this equated to a return rate of 76.4% in 2025.
The company said it made a surplus after taxation of €34.4m in the year.
It said 30,917 tonnes of material were returned for recycling, compared with 18,893 tonnes in 2024.
In the report, Re-turn’s Chief Executive Ciarán Foley said Irish people’s “response to the deposit return scheme has been incredible”.
Mr Foley said the scheme had “strong participation and return rates”.
“I want to express sincere gratitude to everyone who has played a part – from those who have returned their first container to those who have played a part in the return of millions,” he added.
