Lyft, through Freenow by Lyft, has announced the acquisition of Dublin’s Lynk taxis, and Limerick’s Swift taxi service.
Lynk is a longstanding Dublin-based phone-booking taxi dispatcher and transport service provider to the public sector and hundreds of local businesses.
Swift, known locally as 313131, is a Limerick-based dispatcher with clients in the pharmaceutical and health sectors across the city.
Freenow said that bringing Lynk and Swift into its platform means that passengers can expect faster pickup times thanks to more drivers, and drivers can expect more fares from more passengers.
Danny O’Gorman, General Manager at Freenow by Lyft Ireland, said Limerick was one of the first cities Freenow launched in Ireland, and the acquisition of Swift builds directly on that history.
“At the same time, Lynk strengthens our position in business travel, an area we’re actively growing,” Mr O’Gorman said.
Noel Ebbs, CEO at Lynk, said they are excited to start a new chapter with Lyft.
“Together, we’ll be able to continue the excellent service we’ve provided to clients and passengers, and make more trips available to drivers,” Mr Ebbs said.
A spokesperson for Swift Taxis said they are looking forward to the future with Lyft.
“Combining our local roots with Freenow by Lyft’s technology means we can keep Limerick moving, with even better taxi service for drivers, passengers, and business partners across the city,” the company said.
In July 2025, Freenow was acquired by Lyft. It operates across nine European markets and is headquartered in Germany.
Lyft was founded in 2012, and operates a transport platform offering services including rideshare, taxis, bikes, and scooters across six continents.
