Fairstone appoints former Unio Chief Executive as CEO

The financial planning and wealth management company Fairstone Ireland (Fairstone) has announced the appointment of Ian Brady as CEO.

Fairstone said the appointment, which is subject to regulatory approval, marks a significant milestone in the company’s growth strategy.

Mr Brady has more than 25 years of leadership experience in the Irish wealth management sector.

He was most recently Chief Executive Officer of Unio and previously spent 20 years at Davy as a Managing Director in the Wealth Management Division.

Fairstone has over €4 billion in assets under management and employs around 240 people.

It also owns the askpaul.ie financial advice business, and it has acquired 20 independently owned wealth management and financial planning firms in that time.

Former Fairstone CEO and founder of askpaul.ie Paul Merriman will move to a new role as President of the company following Mr Brady’s appointment.

Commenting on the appointment, Mr Merriman said Mr Brady is one of Ireland’s most respected leaders in financial advice and wealth management.

“As Fairstone enters its next phase of growth, Ian is ideally placed to lead the organization and continue delivering outstanding outcomes for our clients, colleagues and partner firms,” he said.

Ian Brady said the company’s ambition to double by 2030 across the UK and Ireland attracted him to the role.:

“The business has earned the right to its next chapter: my job is to sustain that momentum and put the strength and depth beneath it that the opportunity demands,” he added.

Fairstone now has £25 Billion of Assets under management across in the UK and Ireland, serving over 100,000 clients across both markets.
