European gym operator PureGym has announced plans to enter the Irish market, with its first gyms here due to open at the start of next year.
PureGym said the expansion into Ireland builds on a period of sustained global growth for the company.
After its entry into the US market in 2024 with the acquisition of Blink Fitness, the company now operates more than 700 clubs worldwide, including over 460 in the UK, as well as Switzerland, Denmark and the Middle East.
PureGym’s first clubs in Ireland will be located in central Dublin. Members will gain access to fitness facilities through PureGym’s low-cost, no-contract memberships with prices from €29.99.
Further expansion across the region is planned in the coming years as PureGym continues to build its presence here.
Recent research from Sport Ireland shows that personal exercise, including weight-lifting and cardio, has become the most popular form of sport in the country, with 20% of people now taking part in this form of exercise weekly, an increase from 12% in 2017.
Alex Wood, Group CEO at PureGym, said the company was thrilled to be opening in the Republic of Ireland, a country with a rich history of sport, exercise and activity.
“Today’s news marks an important milestone in our mission to inspire healthier nations by bringing high-quality, low-cost fitness to an even wider audience, at affordable prices,” he added.
