Around 90 jobs are under threat at the Irish operation of technology services firm Genpact.

The company, which is based in Sandyford in Dublin, provides services to Facebook parent Meta and it is understood that the proposed redundancies are linked to changes in demand from the social media giant.

A spokesperson for Genpact said it would not be commenting on the details of its plans but did confirm that due to a change in business needs, the services provided by its Dublin operation will be impacted.

“We’re committed to handling every transition thoughtfully and smoothly and helping ensure everyone is treated fairly and respectfully,” a spokesperson said.

“Ireland remains an important part of Genpact’s global operations,” they added.

Genpact provides services such as content moderation and data analytics.

Increased spending on AI

In March, Meta announced plans to use advanced AI systems which it said would reduce its reliance on third-party suppliers for content moderation.

In April, another outsourcing firm Covalen, which provides content moderation and AI training services for Meta, informed staff and the Government of around 720 potential redundancies.

Staff directly employed by Meta have also been impacted by job losses.

In May, it emerged that 350 roles were under threat at the company’s Irish operation which employs around 1,800 people.

The cuts come as Meta increases spending on AI, with CEO Mark Zuckerberg previously saying that 2026 would be the year that AI starts to dramatically change the way the company works.
