Fergal Leamy has been appointed as Group Chief Executive of An Post.
Mr Leamy is a former head of Coillte and Glen Dimplex.
He succeeds David McRedmond in the role, who is leaving the company after 10 years.
Mr Leamy also served as CEO of Consolidated Pastoral Company and led Greencore’s US business.
An Post said Mr Leamy was appointed following an extensive competitive search process overseen by its board.
Mr Leamy will take up the role in mid-August for a seven-year term.
The Waterford-native began his working life with McKinsey & Company in London before joining private equity firm Terra Firma Capital Partners.
He is also a former chair of the UK firm, Little Dish.

Mr Mulvey paid tribute to Mr McRedmond for his leadership and vision in building the company to revenues of over €1bn.
