Global packaging group Smurfit Westrock said today it intends to delist from the London Stock Exchange, after which it would be solely listed in New York.

Smurfit Westrock was formed after Smurfit Kappa agreed in 2023 to buy US rival WestRock for $11 billion to create the world’s biggest paper and packaging company.

The company, which is still headquartered in Ireland, left the Dublin Stock Exchange after the US deal.

It said the move follows a review that cited low trading activity in London, incremental costs, and added regulatory and administrative burdens tied to maintaining the LSE listing.

The delisting is expected to take effect on the morning of June 22 and June 19 is expected to be the last day of trading for the ordinary shares on the LSE.
