The Land Development Agency (LDA) has started construction on almost 800 homes in the new Richmond Village development in Fairview in Dublin 3.
Richmond Village will deliver 779 new homes, on the site of St Vincent’s Hospital in Fairview.
The new homes, all of which will be apartments, are being delivered as part of the LD’s Project Tosaigh initiative, in partnership with Royalton Group and Walls Construction.
Planning permission for the project was secured in 2023 by Royalton Group and, with the LDA’s involvement, construction is now underway.
Richmond Village is due to be fully completed by 2029 and will consist of 10 buildings, ranging in height from two to 11 storeys. Studio and one, two and three-bedroom apartments will be available.
Construction works began earlier this year, with first homes due to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2028.
As well as the new apartments, the development will include retail outlets and community amenities.
A new mental health facility will be delivered separately by Royalton Group and Walls for St Vincent’s Hospital Fairview.
The hospital has operated on this site since 1857 and the new facility which is due for completion towards the end of 2027 will replace the existing hospital buildings, some of which are over 100 years old.
The LDA has already partnered with homebuilders to deliver over 3,000 Project Tosaigh homes at locations in Dublin, Wicklow, Meath, Kildare, Limerick and Waterford.
John Coleman, chief executive of the Land Development Agency, said the agency was delighted to mark the start of construction at Richmond Village, which will deliver nearly 800 much-needed homes in a superbly located part of Dublin.
“Through Project Tosaigh, the LDA is enabling high-quality developments to progress from planning to construction. Richmond Village is an important addition to our growing portfolio of large-scale projects helping to increase housing delivery nationwide,” Mr Coleman said.
“Construction is now underway and we look forward to working closely with our partners to deliver a vibrant, sustainable and well-served new neighbourhood for Fairview by year end 2029,” he added.
