Valued at\u00a0$11.2 billion by market cap,\u00a0the company also\u00a0manufactures software for dental laboratories and dental practitioners. The\u00a0leading manufacturer of clear aligners is\u00a0expected to announce its fiscal\u00a0first-quarter earnings for 2025 after the market closes on Wednesday, Apr. 30.<\/p>\n<p>Ahead of the event, analysts expect ALGN to report a\u00a0profit of $1.52 per share on a diluted basis, down 6.2% from\u00a0$1.62 per share in the year-ago quarter. Its EPS is expected to rise 11.3% year over year to $8.95 in fiscal 2026.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<figure class=\"image\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"aspect-ratio:602\/396;\" src=\"https:\/\/barchart-news-media-prod.aws.barchart.com\/SANDP\/570eaede52e6b1d06e6f18e43e21aad0\/eum0oor6ujeo5q0l.png\" width=\"602\" height=\"396\"><figcaption>www.barchart.com<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>ALGN stock has considerably underperformed the S&P 500\u2019s ($SPX)\u00a04.2% losses over the past 52 weeks, with shares\u00a0down 54.9% during this period. Similarly, it underperformed the Health Care Select Sector SPDR Fund\u2019s (XLV)\u00a06.9% dip over the same time frame.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<figure class=\"image\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"aspect-ratio:602\/400;\" src=\"https:\/\/barchart-news-media-prod.aws.barchart.com\/SANDP\/570eaede52e6b1d06e6f18e43e21aad0\/m1wvyubkim1diq5a.png\" width=\"602\" height=\"400\"><figcaption>www.barchart.com<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>ALGN\u2019s underperformance can be largely attributed to challenges in the U.S. market, including the impact of a stronger U.S. dollar and decreased demand for Clear Aligner sales. These factors resulted in lower EPS, as well as pressure on operational metrics such as gross and operating margins due to currency fluctuations and restructuring charges.<\/p>\n<p>On Feb. 5, ALGN shares closed up marginally after reporting its Q4 results. Its adjusted EPS of $2.44 surpassed Wall Street expectations of $2.43. The company\u2019s revenue was $995.2 million, falling short of Wall Street forecasts of $997 million.
