Through its subsidiary, CSX Transportation, it operates a vast rail network spanning approximately 20,000 route miles across 26 states, the District of Columbia, and parts of Canada.<\/p>\n<p>Companies valued at $10 billion or more are generally classified as \u201clarge-cap\u201d stocks, and CSX fits this criterion perfectly. CSX provides essential links in the supply chain, transporting a variety of goods, including chemicals, agricultural products, automotive materials, and coal. In addition, shares of CSX have decreased 18.3% over the past 52 weeks, lagging behind\u00a0<u>DOWI\u2019s 7.7% return<\/u> over the same time frame.<\/p>\n<p>CSX has been trading below its 50-day and 200-day moving averages since December last year.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<figure class=\"image\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"aspect-ratio:940\/617;\" src=\"https:\/\/barchart-news-media-prod.aws.barchart.com\/SANDP\/02d977871cc6aab19c970e5b4c0a0be3\/awfj2iz52vibnqnm.png\" width=\"940\" height=\"617\"><figcaption><u>www.barchart.com<\/u><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><u>CSX shares fell 2.9%<\/u> following its\u00a0<u>Q4 2024 earnings release<\/u> on Jan. 23 due to disappointing financial results, including adjusted EPS of $0.42, which\u00a0<u>missed analysts' expectations<\/u>. Revenue fell 4% year-over-year to $3.5 billion, slightly below the forecast, driven by a sharp 20% decline in coal revenue and lower fuel surcharges.
