Wicklow-based McCabe’s Coffee was bought by one of Spain\u2019s largest coffee companies Cafento.<\/p>\n

McCabe’s said it will continue to operate as an independent brand from its Irish headquarters, maintaining the same team, existing supplier and customer relationships.<\/p>\n

The conditions of the deal are not being disclosed.<\/p>\n

McCabe’s Coffee is among Ireland\u2019s pioneering micro-roasteries, evolving from a small family roasting venture into a leading specialty coffee business. The 27-year-old business supplies more than 450 independent caf\u00e9s across the island of Ireland.<\/p>\n

This is Cafento’s second Irish acquisition after Java Republic in 2019.<\/p>\n

The family-run international coffee group goes back to 1930 with headquarters in Tineo in northern Spain.<\/p>\n

Cafento employs over 600 people with a production capacity of 21 million kilos per year.<\/p>\n

It has an extensive distribution network throughout Spain, whilst consolidating its position in France and Central Europe.<\/p>\n

Announcing the acquisition the CEO of the Spanish company Paula Rodr\u00edguez said that Ireland is an important market for her business.<\/p>\n

“This partnership brings together two family-owned businesses that share the same values and the same long-term approach.”<\/p>\n

Management team at Cafento said they see “clear potential to grow McCabe\u2019s brand and take it to beyond Ireland over time.”<\/p>\n

The co-founder of the Irish brand, Stephen McCabe, said he is “proud of the product” and “the relationships developed along the way.”<\/p>\n
