{"id":27888,"date":"2025-11-29T20:22:56","date_gmt":"2025-11-30T01:22:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sharewatch.com\/wp\/2025\/11\/29\/gender-pay-gap-narrows-at-rte-to-8-85-from-10-09\/"},"modified":"2025-11-29T20:22:56","modified_gmt":"2025-11-30T01:22:56","slug":"gender-pay-gap-narrows-at-rte-to-8-85-from-10-09","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sharewatch.com\/wp\/2025\/11\/29\/gender-pay-gap-narrows-at-rte-to-8-85-from-10-09\/","title":{"rendered":"Gender pay gap narrows at RT\u00c9 to 8.85% from 10.09%"},"content":{"rendered":"<section class=\"medium-10 medium-offset-1 columns article-body\" itemprop=\"articleBody\" data-epic-field=\"content\">\n<p>The gender pay gap, the difference between what men and women earn, has narrowed at RT\u00c9.<\/p>\n<p>The mean gender pay gap as of June this year was 8.85%, down from 10.09% last year.<\/p>\n<p>The median gender pay gap at RT\u00c9 is 11.18%, down from 12.74% in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>The mean pay gap is the difference between the average hourly rate of pay for women, compared to the average hourly rate of pay for men.<\/p>\n<p>The median pay gap represents the difference in hourly pay between the middle-placed woman and the middle-placed man.<\/p>\n<p>RT\u00c9&#8217;s first gender pay gap report was published in December 2022 and revealed a mean gender pay gap of 11.55% and a median gender pay gap of 13.03%.<\/p>\n<p>In 2023, the mean gender pay gap was 11.29% and the median gender pay gap was 12.75%.<\/p>\n<p>RT\u00c9 said that staff grades that receive overtime payments significantly impact the overall figures.<\/p>\n<p>Excluding these grades, the mean gender pay gap stands at 6.52% and the median at 3.20%.<\/p>\n<p>The broadcaster said there is a gender balance across its Leadership Team and the RT\u00c9 Board, and there is a 45:55 female to male gender ratio across all management grades.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Headcount variations throughout the year, driven by live events, staff movements and operational needs, create natural shifts in the metrics that require longer-term tracking to fully assess,&#8221; RT\u00c9 said.<\/p>\n<p>In a message to staff, RT\u00c9 Director General Kevin Bakhurst said the figures provide transparency on its progress during a year of significant organisational transformation.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am encouraged to see RT\u00c9\u2019s gender pay gap narrow further this year, continuing a trend from our first report in 2022,&#8221; Mr Bakhurst said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There is more work to do, and we are committed to continue to move this dial,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are encouraged to see that the trend is in the right direction, particularly given the complexity of RT\u00c9 as an organisation which operates with a very low turnover of staff. However, I personally won&#8217;t be satisfied until the gap is zero,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2024, all employers with over 150 employees have been legally obliged to report on their gender pay gap.<\/p>\n<p>This year, the requirement was extended to all employers with over 50 staff.<\/p>\n<p>The deadline for companies to publish their gender pay gap reports is 30 November.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/section>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The gender pay gap, the difference between what men and women earn, has narrowed at RT\u00c9.
