Commercial solar provider UrbanVolt has agreed a deal with Blanchardstown Centre for an 815kWp rooftop solar installation – the largest retail solar project of its kind in Ireland.<\/p>\n

The installation, which includes 1,630 high-efficiency solar panels, has been largely completed and will be fully operational by early October.<\/p>\n

It is expected to generate 689,593 kWh of renewable electricity annually. This is enough to power over 150 homes for a full year, and the power generated will supply over 40% of Blanchardstown Centre’s total yearly electricity consumption.<\/p>\n

During peak summer months, the centre will operate entirely on solar power.<\/p>\n

Digital screens throughout the shopping centre will display solar energy performance in real-time, to promote awareness amongst customers.<\/p>\n

Justin Jacober, CEO of UrbanVolt, said today’s partnership marks a significant step towards a sustainable future for retail spaces.<\/p>\n

“By integrating our solar as a service solution, Blanchardstown Centre is not only reducing its carbon footprint but also setting a new standard for what shopping centres can achieve in terms of environmental responsibility,” he added.<\/p>\n

Blanchardstown Centre, which first opened in 1996, is the country’s biggest retail and leisure destination. It has over 1.1 million square feet of retail and leisure space, with 188 shop units and 5,600 parking spaces on site.<\/p>\n

Brands include Penneys, H&M, Zara, Hollister, Mango and Flannels, while the centre is anchored by Dunnes Stores, Marks & Spencer and Aldi.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/section>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
