Valued at\u00a0$89.5 billion by market cap, the company\u2019s\u00a0Sherwin-Williams branded products are sold exclusively through a chain of more than 5,000 company operated stores and facilities, while\u00a0additional brands are sold through leading mass merchandisers, home centers, and more.<\/p>\n<p>Shares of this\u00a0coating giant\u00a0have underperformed the broader market over the past year.\u00a0SHW has gained 14.5% over this time frame, while the broader S&#038;P 500 Index ($SPX) has\u00a0rallied nearly 20.5%. The exchange-traded fund has\u00a0gained about 6.3% over the past year.\u00a0However, the ETF\u2019s 5% gains on a YTD basis outshine the stock\u2019s returns over the same time frame.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<figure class=\"image\">  <img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"aspect-ratio:601\/399;\" src=\"https:\/\/barchart-news-media-prod.aws.barchart.com\/SANDP\/ba5beba0c3d3a99920faade44fc4627d\/vqter7man3mmgbxc.png\" width=\"601\" height=\"399\"><figcaption>   www.barchart.com  <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>SHW\u2019s underperformance is driven by\u00a0economic challenges, including fluctuating market demand, increasing raw material costs, and higher interest rates. Additionally, its consumer brands and performance coatings segments have declined, impacted by\u00a0weaker demand,\u00a0internal cost control, and\u00a0 foreign currency losses.<\/p>\n<p>On Jan. 30,\u00a0SHW shares closed up more than 1% after reporting its\u00a0Q4 results. Its adjusted EPS of $2.09 surpassed Wall Street expectations of $2.07. The company\u2019s revenue was $5.3 billion, falling short of Wall Street forecasts of $5.31 billion. For fiscal 2025, SHW expects its adjusted EPS to be between $11.65 and $12.05.<\/p>\n<p>For fiscal 2025, ending in December, analysts expect SHW\u2019s\u00a0EPS to grow 5.9% to $12 on a diluted basis.
