Irishman and co-founder of payments platform Stripe Patrick Collison is to join the board of Facebook parent company Meta.
Mr Collison is the CEO of Stripe which he co-founded with his brother John in 2010.
He is also a co-founder of the Arc Institute, a biomedical research institute.
“Between WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook, Meta is one of the internet’s most important platforms for businesses,” Mr Collison said.
“I look forward to helping them navigate the abundant opportunities of the coming years,” he added.
It was also announced that former Republican Party official Dina Powell McCormick is to join the Meta board.
She served as Deputy National Security Adviser to US President Donald Trump and as Assistant Secretary of State to Condoleezza Rice under President George W Bush.
Mr Collison and Ms Powell McCormick will take up their positions on 15 April.

“Patrick is deeply committed to expanding economic opportunity, and Dina has a long career advocating for economic development and supporting entrepreneurs,” he added.
Other Meta board members include Dana White, President and CEO, Ultimate Fighting Championship; Tony Xu, Co-Founder and CEO, DoorDash; and Drew Houston, Co-Founder and CEO, Dropbox.
