Thunders Bakery, which first opened in 1969, has closed all eight of its stores around the capital due to “difficult trading conditions”.
In a post on Instagram, the Dublin bakery chain confirmed that it has ceased trading after 56 years in business.
“The company has experienced difficult trading conditions in recent months and has become unsustainable,” it said in the post.
“Thank you to all of our loyal team, customers and friends for your support over the years.”
The bakery had eight locations across Dublin including Walkinstown, Phibsborough, Drumcondra, Clontarf, Santry and Donaghmede.
It said it will not be able to fulfill any cake orders that have been placed.
“We will be in touch be in touch directly with all customeres who have a pre-order with us,” it said.
