Limerick-based digital growth consultancy LeanBPI said today it has now helped 750 small businesses to digitise their operations, helping them to compete against multinationals with large digital budgets.

Over the last 12 years, the consultancy said it has saved small businesses up to €34,4251 each, totalling €25m. Brands it has worked with include the Regale Biscuit Company, Clonakilty Food Company, Munster Joinery and Nutshed.

The company works closely with organisations such as IBEC, Enterprise Ireland and the Local Enterprise Office (LEO), helping clients access business supports including MentorWorks, Digital for Business and Lean for Business grants.

LeanBPI said that while every SME’s journey is different, certain businesses, such as small food producers need bespoke solutions to meet the needs of their organisation.

It said that finding suitable software can be challenging given the variation across food businesses and the complexity of their operations.

These businesses must navigate food safety, traceability, and inventory management while ensuring compliance with a range of regulations. Historically, companies have often had to rely on generic off-the-shelf solutions or a collection of disjointed systems, rather than tools that are tailored to meet their specific needs.

LeanBPI said that it has identified food manufacturing as a key market for the business and it is now targeting 20% annual growth in its customer base in this area.

John O’Shanahan, founder and Managing Director of LeanBPI said the company is proud of what we it has achieved so far.

“But we’re not slowing down – if anything, we’re becoming more ambitious. The reality is that more and more businesses need to invest in digital adoption as they compete with larger organisations with greater resources,” Mr O’Shanahan said.

“Our end-to-end approach to bespoke digitisation delivers far greater ROI than off-the-shelf solutions for businesses that have specific needs to be met.” he said.

“We’re constantly evolving our product offering to meet the needs of the market, as we take this next step in strengthening LeanBPI’s position as a leading digital consultancy provider,” he added.
