The National Treasury Management Agency has today completed an auction of €1 billion of benchmark Irish Government bonds.

Two bonds were offered in today’s auction – a 2.6% Treasury Bond which matures in 2034 and a 1.7% Treasury Bond which matures in 2037.

With the completion of today’s auction, the NTMA has issued €4 billion of bonds so far this year.

It plans to issue €6 billion to €10 billion worth of debt for the year and already raised €3 billion in a January syndicated deal.

Ireland has a relatively limited borrowing requirement this year due to its large cash balances and forecast budget surplus.
