New figures from the Central Statistics Office show a 5% increase in the number of foreign visitors who came to Ireland in July, while those tourists spent €681m during their visit.
The CSO said that 676,300 foreign visitors completed a trip to Ireland last month, up 5% on the same time last year and an increase of 3% compared with July 2024.
The foreign visitors stayed a total of 5.2 million nights in the country, up 2% on July of last year but down 2% on July 2024.
The average length of stay for foreign resident overnight visitors was 7.6 nights, down from 7.9 nights in July of last year.
While here, foreign visitors spent at estimated €681m in July, an increase of 9% compared with July 2025’s figure of €624m, and a rise of 5% compared with July 2024’s figure of €650m.
Visitors from North America accounted for €300m (44%) of that spend, Continental Europe for €209m (31%), Great Britain for €127m (19%), and visitors from the Rest of the World for €45m (7%).
Meanwhile, the biggest number of visitors in July came from Continental Europe and Great Britain, with both seeing a 32% market share. They were followed by North America (30%), and the Rest of the World (6%).
Visitors said the main purpose for their travel to Ireland in July was for Holidays, Leisure & Recreation (50%), followed by Visiting Friends & Relatives (29%) and Business trips (11%).
Today’s CSO figures show that year-to-date overnight visits by foreign residents were estimated at 3.9 million, an increase of 13% compared with the same time in 2025 (3.5 million) and up 0.4% compared with 2024 (3.9 million).
