Co Galway’s Wild Atlantic Ice Company has partnered with Tesco to launch Just Ice, a 2kg party bag of locally sourced ice.

Available in all 183 Tesco stores and online, the collaboration marks a significant investment in local manufacturing and job creation in Co Galway.

Wild Atlantic Ice Co is investing over €750,000 in its facility in Ros an Mhíl Rossaveal, Conamara.

With funding support from Údarás na Gaeltachta, the project has not only bolstered local production capacity but also generated new employment opportunities in the Gaeltacht region.

Wild Atlantic Ice Company founder Dave Robinson credited Tesco’s support as a key driver of the company’s expansion.

“Partnering with Tesco gave us the confidence to invest in a brand-new facility, allowing us to support local jobs and communities,” he said.

Joe Manning, Commercial Director at Tesco Ireland, said that launching Just Ice in its stores nationwide is another example of the company’s commitment to sustainability and bringing the best Irish products to customers.

“This initiative goes beyond reducing food miles – by working with Wild Atlantic Ice Co, we’re not only offering high-quality, locally-sourced ice but also investing in the future of local communities,” he added.

Dearbháil Ní Chualáin, Director of Enterprise at ÚnaG, welcomed the strategic partnership:

“We are delighted to support this venture, which strengthens the local Gaeltacht community. Strategic partnerships like this ensure that people can continue to live and work in areas like Conamara,” she said.
