AIB is launching a new mobile-banking app that will be rolled out to customers on a phased basis from the end of June.

The bank said the new app – which will be rolled out over a number of months – has enhanced security and fraud protection, a reduced log-in time.

It will include personal-finance insights such as categorised spend, brand names, logos and locations, and budgeting options.

Together with the app launch, AIB has conducted research indicating that a third of adults in Ireland check their banking app at least once a day, and that 44% log in a few times a week.

The survey of 1,000 adults also suggests 55% of adults use two to three different apps to manage different parts of their finances, with 13% using four to five different apps.

It also identified what is described as a “confidence gap”, where 31% of respondents said they are not confident about managing their finances effectively.

Commenting on the new app, MD of Retail Banking at AIB Geraldine Casey said it’s “a major step forward in digital innovation and security for our customers, providing the convenience and accessibility of best-in-class banking they can trust, via the phone in their pocket”.

“Just as importantly, customers always have the option to speak to someone, call us, or visit a local branch when they wish, backed by our continued investment and deep commitment to communities around Ireland, as demonstrated by our ongoing €66 million investment in our branches since 2024,” she added.
