SIPTU has said it will support members who refuse to assist in any way with the holding of football matches involving Israel.
The union said workers in broadcasting, transport and other affected industries should not be required to facilitate fixtures which many believe would legitimise Israel.
Last week, the FAI confirmed that the Republic of Ireland’s home UEFA Nations League fixture with Israel will be moved to a neutral venue.
The match, scheduled for 4 October, will switch from Aviva Stadium to an as yet unconfirmed neutral ground.
“Moving these fixtures from Dublin to a neutral venue behind closed doors does not resolve the issue,” said SIPTU Deputy General Secretary Greg Ennis.
“It merely moves the Palestinian picket line out of sight,” Mr Ennis said.
“Our position is clear: don’t pass that picket line in Dublin, in Hungary or anywhere else,” he added.
SIPTU said it will be leading discussions with other unions to ensure a united front of support for members who make a stand against the fixtures.
