A man and a woman have admitted their roles in a fraud in which over €500,000 was stolen from Dublin Zoo over seven years ago.
In November and December 2017, €511,000 was redirected from the zoo’s accounts in three different frauds.
Officers from the Garda National Economic Crime Bureau along with officers from garda stations in Cabra and Clonmel began an investigation into invoice redirect fraud and over €360,000 was recovered.
Adnan Afzal, 45, and Agate Jansone, 32, both with the same address at Wellington Street in Clonmel, appeared at Clonmel Circuit Court.
Both pleaded guilty to charges of laundering €364,894 under the Money laundering and Terrorist Financing Act.
Judge Catherine Staines remanded the two individuals on continuing bail to appear again in court for sentencing in May.
