Minister for Social Protection Dara Calleary has said that a team from his department is available to meet with TikTok workers impacted by job cuts at the company.
Around 300 jobs are at risk at the Dublin headquarters of the video-sharing platform, where almost 3,000 people are employed.
TikTok has not commented on the matter or disclosed the exact number of job cuts.
The Department of Enterprise received a collective redundancy notification from the company on Tuesday following a February announcement that it would be undergoing global restructuring.
It is understood that the redundancies at TikTok’s Irish operation will take effect in April.
“My first priority and that of my officials at the Department of Social Protection is to ensure that those affected employees will receive access to all necessary supports without delay,” Mr Calleary said.
“My Department has already been in contact with the company to offer information on all of the income and employment supports available to assist these employees over the coming months,” he added.
“A team from the Department is available to meet with the workforce to ensure prompt access to income supports and to support them into alternative employment, or to access appropriate education, training and development options,” Mr Calleary said.
