Helen Dixon is to step down from her position as a Commissioner at the communications regulator ComReg.
Ms Dixon, a former Data Protection Commissioner, took up the role at ComReg one year ago and will leave the organisation on 28 February.
In a post on LinkedIn, Ms Dixon said she was leaving to “try something new”.
“After over 18 years in regulatory leadership roles and in particular in global digital regulation, I’ve decided that the time is right to come at the questions… and hopefully better answers… from some different angles,” Ms Dixon wrote.
“I don’t know at this point what form(s) my next act will take. I’m going to take a little time to reflect on that,” she added.
In a statement, ComReg said that in a message to her colleagues, Ms Dixon said she wanted to thank the expert and committed staff in ComReg and wished them ongoing success.
“She also thanked wider stakeholders in the postal and electronic communications services sectors,” ComReg said.
“On behalf of ComReg, Chairperson Garrett Blaney thanked Helen for the experience, knowledge and insights that she brought to ComReg during her tenure as a Commissioner.”
“Mr Blaney wished Helen Dixon well in her future career,” ComReg said.
