The Food Safety Authority of Ireland is recalling a batch of Braemoor Red Hen ham and cheese chicken kievs due to the presence of salmonella.
The affected product has an expiry date of October 2026 and the recall impacts the 500g pack.
Those who purchased the product have been urged by the FSAI not to eat the kievs.
The FSAI instructed retailers to remove the impacted batches from their shelves and display a recall notice at the point-of-sale.
It also requested that wholesalers or distributors contact affected customers, recall the implicated batches and also provide a point-of-sale recall note to their customers.
Caterers, the FSAI, said should not use the affected batches.
In a statement, the FSAI said those infected with salmonella “typically develop symptoms between 12 and 36 hours after infection, but this can range between six and 72 hours”.
The most common symptom, it said, is diarrhoea while others include fever, headache and abdominal cramps.
The elderly, infants and those with impaired immune systems are more likely to have a severe illness, it added.
