Annual wholesale electricity prices down 11.6% in June

New figures from the Central Statistics Office show that wholesale electricity prices dropped by 12.2% in June when compared with May and were 11.6% lower than June last year.

The CSO noted that wholesale electricity prices have fallen by 75.4% when compared with the peak that occurred in August 2022 after Russia invaded Ukraine.

Today’s figures show that producer prices for food products increased by 4.2% in the 12 months to June.

The Food Products, Beverages and Tobacco Index was up by 3.2% with some of the most notable changes including a 22% increase in Dairy Products, a 6.4% increase in Meat & Meat Products, while producer prices for Vegetables & Animal Oils & Fats were down 16.2%.

Overall wholesale price inflation showed a decrease in June with a 2% decline in the overall Producer Price Index for manufacturing industries in the month.

The price index for export sales was down by 2.3% since May 2025, while the index for home sales was down by 0.2% in the month.
