Irish publisher Folens has been selected by the Irish Catholic Bishops’ Conference and religious publisher Veritas to produce, market and distribute a portfolio of educational publications covering both Primary and Secondary Schools books across the island of Ireland under license.
The portfolio of publications being licensed to Folens includes the “Grow in Love” series which is specifically written for use in Irish primary schools.
Folens will also assume responsibility for the growinlove.ie website, along with other related websites and apps.
Under the terms of the agreement, Folens will be responsible for managing all sales related matters, including customer service.
Veritas, the publisher and retailer of religious goods, is currently in the final stages of an orderly wind down of the business, as first announced last February.
Despite the significant and sustained business downturn which impacted the commercial viability of Veritas, the educational portfolio that has been taken over by Folens was one of the strongest performing parts of the business in recent years.
John Cadell, Executive Director of Folens, said the company was delighted to have been selected by the Irish Catholic Bishops’ Conference to continue the work of Veritas in bringing the highest quality educational resources to thousands of schools across Ireland.
Chris Queenan, Chairperson of Veritas, said the company were saddened to be stepping away from the “great honour” of being involved with religious education in Ireland.
“However, we are comforted by knowing that our mission will be carried forward by the excellent team at Folens. They have a wonderful track record of bringing the highest quality educational resources to the market for the benefit of students, teachers and parents alike,” Chris Queenan added.
