The Taoiseach, Micheál Martin, has opened expanded offices for professional services company EY in Cork.

The offices increase EY’s footprint at Lapp’s Quay in the city by two thirds, to 30,000 square feet.

EY currently employs more than 400 people in Cork. The company says the new offices will pave the way for further expansion in the city, to meet growing client demand.

EY says it’s currently the largest professional services practice in the region.

EY’s staff numbers in Cork have tripled over the last eight years, to 420 people. The company provides clients with services in assurance, tax and law, consulting, as well as strategy and transactions and financial services.

EY says it also hosts what it describes as several industry-focused centres of excellence in Cork.

Speaking at the opening of the new offices, Micheál Martin said EY’s decision to expand its presence in Cork was a sign of confidence in the city and the broader region.

“The Government remains focused on investment to support a world‑class environment for innovation, collaboration and sustainable economic growth across Ireland, and EY’s expansion in Cork stands as a strong demonstration of that shared ambition,” Mr Martin said.

EY Ireland Managing Partner Frank O’Keeffe said the company is incredibly proud of its longstanding presence in Cork.

“It’s been integral to our growth across the island,” Mr O’Keeffe said. “Our team in Cork delivers world class services to our clients in the region and beyond, and we could not be more excited about the potential for EY in Cork into the future.

EY Cork Office Managing Partner Ronan Murray described the opening of the new offices as a significant milestone in EY’s journey in Cork.

“Our firm has a proud history in the city with over half a century of service, and this investment reflects our continued commitment to strengthening both our physical presence and our offering to clients,” he said. “As the regional economy continues to thrive, we look forward to continuing to support our phenomenal clients from our enhanced, world-class office facilities.”

Earlier today, Mr Martin opened a global research and development centre for Motorola Solutions in Cork.

The centre is focused on software design for its public safety land mobile radio portfolio, used by first responders for emergency communications.

Motorola says it has hired nearly 200 people for the R&D centre, which is located at Navigation Square in Cork city centre.

“The opening of Motorola Solutions’ new global R&D centre in Cork is a testament to the extraordinary technical talent and innovation we have cultivated in Ireland,” Mr Martin said.

“This investment reinforces our country’s reputation as a global hub for the technology sector, where world-class engineers can solve some of the most complex challenges of the modern era,” he added. “Knowing the depth of expertise in Cork, I look forward to the groundbreaking advancements in public safety technology that will undoubtedly result.”

Motorola Solutions in Cork has established early‑career and education partnerships with University College Cork and Munster Technological University for internships which provide students with hands-on, practical industry experience and mentorship to guide skill development and career readiness.

Motorola Solutions’ Global R&D Centre investment is supported by the Irish Government through IDA Ireland.
