Donnybrook Fair in Dundrum will close its doors on January 24, according to a statement issued by owner Musgrave Group to RTÉ News.

The owner called it a “difficult decision,” which will affect 23 people currently employed at the store.

“The decision follows an extensive review of the long-term viability of the store” and “is no reflection on colleagues in Dundrum, whose commitment, professionalism and service have been exemplary.”

The opportunities across broader Musgrave businness are “currently being explored” with the staff affected, the retailer said, adding that Donnybrook Fair Dundrum will continue to operate “business as usual over the coming days.”

Retailer Musgrave acquired Donnybrook Fair in 2018. The acquisition included five food stores in Donnybrook, Stillorgan, Malahide, Greystones and Baggot Street as well as a food production facility.

The store in Dundrum was opened in 2021 as part of a €8m investment with a plan to create 120 jobs.

In 2024, Musgrave saw a turnover of €5.2 billion with profits hitting €134.5 million.
