New figures from the Central Statistics Office show the seasonally adjusted Live Register total fell by 1,400 to 167,800 people in November compared to October.
The CSO said the unadjusted Live Register total stood at 162,305 people for November, of which 56.5% were men.
This marked an increase of 4,038 people or 2.6% when compared with November of last year.
The CSO noted that the 25-34 years age group made up the largest number of those on the Live Register in November at 23.8% of the total.
Today’s figures show the counties with the largest percentage increases in the number of people on the Live Register in the 12 months to November were Dublin, with the numbers signing on up by 10% and the Limerick figures saw an increase of 7.1%.
The largest decreases were seen in Monaghan – down 5.3% – and Donegal – down 4.2%.
The Live Register is not designed to measure unemployment as it includes part-time workers as well as seasonal and casual workers who are entitled to Jobseeker’s Benefit or Jobseeker’s Allowance.
Figures earlier this week from the Central Statistics Office showed that the monthly unemployment rate fell to 4.9% in November from 5% in October.
