Around 40 Irish-based staff at retailer IKEA are at risk of redundancy.
The company said it is part of plans to simplify management structures in some of its stores.
IKEA employs around 700 people across Ireland.
The proposed redundancies would be subject to consultation.
An IKEA spokesperson said that to remain competitive, the company is continuing to transform into an omnichannel retailer.
“As part of this evolution, we are proposing changes to simplify management structures in some of our stores,” the spokesperson said.
“This will enable us to reinvest in customer-facing roles, ensuring we can deliver an even better experience for our customers.”
“Throughout this process, we are committed to supporting our co-workers with care and transparency,” IKEA said.
It is understood a collective redundancy notification has not yet been received by the Department of Enterprise.
Such notifications are required in cases of thirty or more proposed redundancies.
