Topshop will make its return to the Irish high street with a shop in Co Donegal next month.
McElhinneys in Ballybofey announced on social media that it will be home to the first physical Topshop in Ireland since the retail giant closed its doors five years ago.
“It all started happening around January, there have been lots of over and backs with meetings in London and getting down to the nitty-gritty,” McElhinney’s general manager Sandra Devenney told RTÉ News.
“We’re very passionate about our company so to get them reaching out to us is amazing. We may be in Donegal, but we work very hard and are known around the country, so for us to get Topshop is just another thing for us to be excited about in the future.”
Online retailer ASOS bought Topshop in 2021 from the administrators of Philip Green’s collapsed Arcadia group, along with its Topman, Miss Selfridge and HIIT brands, for around €300million. Last year, ASOS sold 75% of its stake in Topshop to Danish company Bestseller.
Ms Devenney said McElhinneys balance of “online and bricks and mortar retail” fits with Topshop’s focus as it prepares to relaunch.
Topshop will open in Donegal on 21 August.
