Sky has said that a technical issue with its Sky Q TV service, which affected some customers in Ireland and the UK, has now been resolved.

Frustrated TV viewers took to social media last night to complain about their Sky Q boxes switching off and going into stand-by mode.

The problems started around 9pm when many customers were trying to watch the Eurovision Song Contest semi-final.

“Hey Sky Ireland, my Sky Q box keeps crashing and the Eurovision is on!” one customer wrote on X.

“I’m absolutely fuming my Sky Q box went off 3 times tonight missed most of the Eurovision!” another posted.

According to posts on social media, the problems continued into this morning for some users.

A Sky Ireland spokesperson said the company is sorry that some customers had trouble accessing Sky Q.

“The issue is now resolved, and service has been restored,” the spokesperson said.

A technical problem meant that some Sky Q boxes went into a stand-by state.

Customers are advised that if their Sky Q box is still stuck in stand-by, they should switch off the box at the power socket for 30 seconds and when they turn it back on again, the service should be restored.
