The Central Bank has appointed Mícheál O’Keeffe to the role of Director of Policy and International.
As Director, he will be a member of the bank’s Senior Leadership Team and will be responsible for leading the development of financial regulation domestically and internationally.
Mr O’Keeffe currently works as Senior Advisor to Minister Paschal Donohoe in his role as President of the Eurogroup.
He previously worked as Chief of Staff and Counsellor to the Governor at the Central Bank and Senior Advisor to the Deputy Governor – Monetary and Financial Stability.
He began his career at the European Central Bank where he worked as both an economist and supervisor.
Governor Gabriel Makhlouf said that along with his background in economics, supervision and policy, and his prior leadership role in the Central Bank as Chief of Staff, Mr O’Keeffe brings with him a wealth of international experience, most notably in Brussels and Frankfurt.
“I know he will make an important contribution to this role, as the bank continues to deliver on its mandate for the people of Ireland,” he added.
Mr O’Keeffe will take up his role in June.
