Former ‘The Late Late Show’ host Ryan Tubridy and his agent Noel Kelly have submitted data access requests to RTÉ, the broadcaster has confirmed.

A report in the Irish Times this morning detailed that the requests made by both Mr Tubridy and Mr Kelly specifically related to internal communications concerning Mr Tubridy’s remuneration which led to the controversies at the broadcaster in June 2023.

In a statement to RTÉ News, the broadcaster confirmed that it has received the requests from both these parties and that “these require a significant amount of work that we are currently processing”.

When asked if Mr Tubridy or Mr Kelly have initiated legal proceedings against the organisation, the statement goes on to confirm that “neither of the parties referred to have taken any legal action against RTÉ”.

The Irish Times report says that the data requests from the two men are “circumscribed by time and other limitations, and are focused on retrieving information relevant to the 2023 controversy”.

People have a right to access personal information held by organisations under data protection law.
