The latest AA Ireland Fuel Survey shows that petrol and diesel prices remained steady for March, following recent increases in previous months.
Petrol prices were unchanged at an average of €1.80 a litre, while diesel prices held at an average of €1.77 a litre.
But the average cost of driving for electric vehicle drivers dropped a further three cents in March compared to last month due to applied discounts on standard rates.
Elena Leao, Marketing & PR at AA Ireland, said that stable fuel prices may offer some relief for motorists, but with ongoing cost-of-living pressures, it is always worth finding ways to stretch every euro at the pump.
“Simple habits like anticipating traffic flow to avoid harsh braking and acceleration and ensuring your vehicle is serviced regularly can make a real difference over time,” she said.
The AA also highlighted how EV drivers are seeing slight reductions in costs.
“The decrease in EV running costs is welcome news. As more drivers make the switch to electric, understanding charging plans and maximising off-peak rates can result in even greater savings,” Elena Leao said.
