Talks between RTÉ management and the RTÉ Trade Union Group (TUG) have failed to reach an agreement on a pay increase for staff.
The TUG said that no progress was made at resumed pay negotiations today.
“The TUG negotiating team is extremely disappointed with management’s failure to provide a meaningful offer,” the TUG said in a statement.
It has referred the matter to RTÉ’s internal Industrial Relations Tribunal as a matter of dispute.
RTÉ said it would not be commenting on the matter.
In October 2024, the TUG lodged a pay claim for a flat rate increase of €1,500 plus 6%.
Unions said at the time that they were lodging the claim with a view to having it in place at the end of November.
“The TUG agreed to a postponement last November 2024, with the promise of substantive pay talks to begin in early 2025 with a deal to be in place by 1st of May,” the TUG said.
“The TUG negotiating team has found the process deeply frustrating,” it added.
In December it was announced that RTÉ employees would receive a non-taxable voucher of up to €1,000 as part of an interim arrangement while pay negotiations are ongoing.
The last pay agreement was in November 2022, when RTÉ staff received a 6% increase, over a two-year period.
As part of that deal, employees were also given a non-taxable voucher of €1,000 in early 2023 and a further voucher of €500 in January 2024.
