Penneys, which operates as Primark outside of the Republic of Ireland, has today opened its first-ever standalone Primark Home store, located on Donegall Place in Belfast.
The opening of the new store marks a £2m investment in Belfast city centre and the creation of over 40 new retail jobs.
Located in Fountain House, the new store is near Primark’s flagship Bank Buildings store in Belfast.
This brings Primark’s total headcount to over 400 in the city and over 1,300 across Northern Ireland.
Primark’s home collection offers everything from essentials to soft furnishings, decorative pieces and small furniture.
Primark said it was seeing growing demand from its customers in Northern Ireland for its home range with cotton bedding collections and unique kitchen ceramics proving particularly popular.
Fintan Costello, Head of Penneys Ireland and Northern Ireland, said this marked a big step forward for the Primark brand as it continues to evolve its offering in line with the needs and wants of its customers.
“Ever since the reopening of our Bank Buildings store, the shoppers of Belfast have really embraced Primark and we’re incredibly proud to bring further investment to the city in return. The opening of this standalone store has also given us the opportunity to enhance Bank Buildings, where we can now offer bigger and better kids’ and menswear departments,” he added.
