Hiring platform Indeed and the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) are holding a job fair for refugees at Croke Park in Dublin.

Organisers said the event will give hundreds of refugee jobseekers the opportunity to connect with employers recruiting for open vacancies.

Around 40 employers in sectors such as hospitality, retail, healthcare, transport and skilled trades are taking part.

Companies such as Marriott, Dublin Bus, Penneys, Brown Thomas and Abbvie are on site to meet with refugee jobseekers about job opportunities.

They will conduct interviews for a range of roles across various skill sets.

During the event, translation services will be provided in Ukrainian, Russian, Arabic, Farsi, and several other European languages.

Jobseekers will also be given one to one advice on how to create CVs and cover letters for the Irish job market.

As a condition for participation in the job fairs, employers will be required to commit to a five-point pledge affirming their commitment to hiring refugee jobseekers.

UNHCR figures show that in 2024 more than 120,000 refugees were located in Ireland, along with more than 28,500 people still in the asylum process.

These numbers include more than 105,000 Ukrainians who have arrived in Ireland.

Per capita, Ireland has welcomed one of the largest Ukrainian refugee communities in Europe since the war began.

“Access to labour markets is a game-changer for refugee integration and self-reliance,” said Enda O’Neill, Head of National Office, UNHCR Ireland.

“Refugees and asylum seekers bring the skills, talents, and qualifications that Irish employers need and they’re ready and eager to work,” Mr O’Neill said.

Vice President at Indeed Ireland Conor McCarthy said that securing meaningful employment is one of the most important milestones for a refugee settling in a new country.

“Right now in Ireland, employers in many sectors are also struggling to recruit given the tight labour market, and this event provides an opportunity for them to reach an often overlooked talent pool,” Mr McCarthy said.
