The Food Safety Authority (FSAI) has said a food allergen alert in relation to specific Donegal Catch products due to a contaminated garlic ingredient remains in place.
The FSAI was notified by Green Isle Foods on Monday that peanut had been detected in batches of Donegal Catch salmon fillets and separate batches of ‘Donegal Catch 4 Atlantic Fillets in a Barbeque Spiced Marinade’.
An allergen alert was issued yesterday to warn peanut sensitive consumers of the potential risk.
In a separate statement, Green Isle Foods said: “The safety of our customers is always our number one priority. Following a detailed risk assessment, the FSAI has determined that the product does not need to be recalled. Given the circumstances, we understand that consumers may be concerned and we have made a customer care line available on 045 574 574 and welcome customer queries.”
